SPOTLIGHT & TRENDS Morning India CM launches solar policy of the state RANCHI: Chief Minister (CM) Hemant Soren on Tuesday launched the solar energy policy 2022, which aims at achieving 4000 MW solar power generations by next five years. The CM also inaugurated Kusum web portal for pump set schemes, 600 KV solar plants each for Dhanbad and Dumka and the grid connected rooftop power plant for Giridih solar city. Speaking on the occasion the CM said that renewable energy is future of the nation adding several initiative have been made in the new policy for promoting this sector. He added that incentive for investors, single window, payment security mechanism, rebate and subsidy and other facilities have been made available in the plan. He stated that in a country with 125 crore population there is need for large scale production of energy adding that it is as important for human life as food. He informed that state government is focusing on renewable energy apart from the conventional sources. He said that Jharkhand is moving ahead in this sector would soon become self suffi- cient. The CM said that that Jharkhand has wide span of forests, hills and undulated topography where it is difficult to set up the transmission line and provide power to the people. The government aims to provide power to every house hold in these areas through the solar projects he stated adding the beginning has been made through Giriidih solar city project. Soren mentioned that renewable energy could be used for all works where traditional energy is being utilized. He said that the solar energy is also cheaper than the traditional form of ener- gy. He said that government was coordinating with the investors in the solar energy sector. The CM said that Giridih is becoming the first solar city of the state. The local MLA Sudivya Sonu said that all are committed for implementing the scheme on the ground. The energy secretary Avinash Kumar stated that the policy was made keeping in view the requirement of common people and the industrialists. Senior officials were from the energy department including the JREDA managing director KK Verma were present on the occasion. RANCHI: Khunti police have arrested sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Khunti Syed Riyaz Ahmad for allegedly sexually assaulting and harassing an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) student (22). The students were present in a party organized at the SDM's residence on Saturday night when the latter indulged in the crime after finding the girl alone. Based on the complaint of the girl police have registered a case with the Mahila police station under sections 354, 354 A and 509 of Indian Penal Code on Monday. The SDM was produced before the court on Tuesday and then forwarded to the jail. The statement of the girl has also been recorded under section 164 of Criminal Procedure Code. Ahmad is an IAS officer of 2019 batch. The students had come to Khunti for internship primarily in the rural department. The district administration was providing them accommodation and food. The concerned college has cancelled the trip after the incident and asked the students to return. ED files chargesheet against Singhal and others SANJAY SAHAY RANCHI: Directorate of Enforcement (ED) on Tuesday has filed prosecution complaint against suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal and six others in connection with the Mnrega scam and money laundering. The Mnrega scam took place in Khunti district between 2006 and 2010. Pooja Singhal was the deputy commissioner of the district during the period. The ED had registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. The ED officials arrived at the court with two trunks of the documents along with the chargesheet. The ED advocate, however, did not reveal much about the con- High Court dismisses Rahul Gandhi’s bail plea RANCHI: Jharkhand High Court has dismissed the petition of former Congress President Rahul Gandhi. The hearing of Rahul Gandhi's petition was heard in the court of Jharkhand High Court Judge Justice Sanjay Dwivedi. After hearing all the parties involved in this matter, the court dismissed the petition. The court said that the points being raised in the High Court should be raised in the trial court. Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition in the High Court to quash the cognizance taken by the lower court. But the court rejected his petition. The Ranchi Civil Court had issued summons to Rahul Gandhi. Against which he has filed a petition in the High Court. In the petition filed by Rahul, an appeal has been made to dismiss the summon as well as the case. It may be noted that during the Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi had come to Ranchi for campaigning. PG 12 Unemployment rate rises to 7.80 pc in June: CMIE MUMBAI: The country's unemployment rate has shot up at 7.80 per cent in June with the loss of 13 million jobs, mainly in the agriculture sector, according to the data released by economic thinktank Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The massive fall in number of jobs last month was triggered by higher unemployment rate in rural areas, which went up to 8.03 per cent from 6.62 per cent in May. In urban areas, it was slightly better at 7.30 per cent compared to 7.12 per cent recorded in May, according to the CMIE data. "This is the biggest fall in employment during a non-lockdown month. This is basically a rural phenomenon and seasonal. However, this is a seasonal phase when there is a lull in agricultural activities in rural areas and it is most likely to be reversed in July when the sowing begins," CMIE managing director Mahesh Vyas told PTI over a telephonic conversation. He said, while 13 million lost jobs during the reporting month, the count of the unemployed increased by only 3 million. A senior official of CBSE told ANI on condition of anonymity that "CBSE class 10 and 12 results are likely to declare in the last week of July as per the scheduled fixed by the Board and there is no delay in Board results." In comparison to the last two years, CBSE, this year going to declare results early despite COVID 19 impact because the examinations were started late and conducted for more than 50 days, the official stated.
