Accordingly, Kundra -who was arrested on July 19 by the Mumbai Police -- will remain in judicial custody till August 10, as granted by the court on Tuesday. ANIL DESHMUKH CASE: CBI SEARCHES 12 LOCATIONS IN MAHARASHTRA RANCHI: Additional district judge (ADJ) Uttam Anand was on Wednesday morning run over by a vehicle near the Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad. Anand was rushed to the local hospital but he succumbed to the injuries. According to video footage available on the incident, Anand was jogging on the roadside early in the morning when a vehicle diverted from its normal path and hit Anand from behind. The vehicle later straightened its direction and speeded away. Anand fell down on the road and could not get up. Local residents rushed him to the Sahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College and Hospital but he could not survive. The High Court has taken cognizance of the event and sought a report on the issue. CABINET GIVES NOD TO DEPOSIT INSURANCE CREDIT GUARANTEE CORPORATION BILL NEW DELHI: Bringing sigh of relief for the depositors in stressed banks, the Union Cabinet on Wednesday gave nod to the Deposit Insurance Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) Bill, 2021. Addressing media persons, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, "The proposed law will insure bank deposits up to Rs 5 lakh. Under DICGC Bill 2021, 98.3 per cent of all deposits will get covered and in terms of deposit value, 50.9 per cent deposit value will be covered. Global deposit value is only 80 per cent of all deposit accounts. It only covers 20-30 per cent of deposit value." "The Union Cabinet has decided that depositors of troubled banks would get their money back within 90 days. As of now, several depositors of troubled lenders are waiting for longer periods to retrieve the money deposited in the bank accounts," the finance minister said. The government has also effected minor changes in the portfolios of three ministers. Alamgir Alam would be in-charge of parliamentary affairs, rural development, rural works and panchayati raj departments. Rameshwar Oraon will look after finance, planning and development, commercial taxes and food and public distribution system. Hafizul Hasan will be in-charge of minority affairs, tourism and sports and the registration department. While asking him to take charge of the ministry the CM asked Mahto to dispose all his work from home. DISASTER STRIKES THE HILLS J-K cloudburst: Death toll reaches 7, 14 missing KISHTWAR: As many as seven people died while 14 others are still missing after a cloudburst in the Gulabgarh area of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday morning. According to Jammu police, a total of 17 people have been rescued out of which five are critically injured. "05 more injured have been rescued. Total 17 persons rescued. Out of the 17 rescued 05 persons are critically injured. 07 dead bodies have been recovered so far. Rescue operation is on," tweeted IGP Jammu. The police further said that the rescue operation is on to search for the missing people. NINE KILLED, SEVEN MISSING IN HIMACHAL FLASH FLOODS SHIMLA: At least nine people were killed and seven reported missing following flash floods at two places in Himachal Pradesh in the past 24 hours, officials said on Indian Army's rescue operation is underway after a village was caught in a flash flood due to a cloudburst, in Kishtwar on Wednesday. Reports say traffic on the Manali-Leh highway was also hampered owing to massive landslides. Several vehicles, including tourists, have been stuck on the highway. The Mandi-Kullu-Manali national highway was also disrupted from Chandigarh due to landslides at several places ahead of Mandi town. Owing to heavy rains, the Border Roads Organisation has closed the Manali-Leh highway and the ManaliUdaipur highway. The tourists and locals have been prohibited from travelling beyond Manali towards Leh via Keylong till further orders.
