According to informed sources, Roy who ruled out any difference of opinion with any state party leader including the current state BJP President Dilip Ghosh, wanted to resume his political career in BJP after a few years gap once again to serve the nation in a 'useful and in significant manners'. Local police have been asked to keep a track of such local gangsters and keep an eye on their movement even if they are in jail. According to an official, reasons behind this latest strategy are that ISI's backbone which is local sleeper cells have been almost eliminated or refusing to work as they fear being killed by security forces. Also, there is hardly any top-level commander to control local sleeper cells. As local gangsters can easily collect material and execute attacks in states, terror organisations are turning to them to execute their mischievous tasks. India has 'military options' to deal with Chinese transgressions if talks fail: CDS Rawat NEW DELHI : Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat on Monday stated that India has "military options" to deal with the Chinese on the issue of transgressions if talks between both the countries at the military and diplomatic level don't yield any results. "The military option to deal with transgressions by the Chinese Army in Ladakh are on but it will be exercised only if talks at the military and the diplomatic level fail," Rawat said here on the ongoing dispute between India and China in Eastern Ladakh. India and China are engaged in a standoff since April-May over the transgressions by the Chinese Army in multiple areas including Finger area, Galwan valley, Hot springs and Kongrung nala. The talks between the two sides have been going on for the last three months including five Lieutenant General-level talks but have failed to yield any results, so far. The CDS, however, refused to discuss in detail the military options that India could exercise to push back the transgressions by the Chinese Army in Ladakh sector. The Chinese Army has refused to withdraw or disengage completely from the Finger area and seems to be buying time to delay its disengagement from there. While efforts are underway to resolve the ongoing border dispute, India has rejected the Chinese suggestion to disengage equidistantly from the Finger area in Eastern Ladakh. COVID-19 death toll in Bengal touched 2,851 with 57 casualties today KOLKATA :With 57 more people dying of Covid -19 pandemic in West Bengal in one day today, the total number of casualties in the state during the last 24 hours has gone up to 2,851 by tonight, one of the highest in the country. At the same time a record number of another 2,967 people also tested Covid-19 positive in the state, causing concern for all for such a rapid growth. Informing this the latest Medical Bulletin issued by the state Health department here tonight said in the wake of an unabated surge in the number of infected people in one day, like a total number of 2,967 people today, the absolute number of those affected by Corona virus in Bengal crossed 1,41,000 mark for the first time today to touch the figure of, 1,41,837, up from 1,38,870 yesterday Among the 57 new casualties, 32 were the residents of Kolkata and 21 were from North 24 Parganas and Howrah, while the rest were from other districts of South and North Bengal,the Bulletin said. Of the record number of 2,967 fresh Covid cases in one day in the state, the maximum 1375 were from Kolkata alone, followed by those from other districts, the bulletin said. As a result the total number of daily tests has now touched the astounding figure of 15,96,578 tonight from 15,61,311 yesterday, the Bulletin said More than 23 lakh patients recovered from COVID-19 in India NEW DELHI : India crossed the 23 lakh COVID-19 recoveries mark and the case fatality rate "has further dipped" to 1.85 per cent, informed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, here on Monday. "With more patients recovering and being discharged from hospitals and home isolation (in case of mild and moderate cases), India's COVID-19 total recoveries have crossed 23 lakh today. Recovery of 23,38,035 patients has been made possible because of effective implementation of the policy of testing aggressively, tracking comprehensively through surveillance and contact tracing& treating efficiently," the Union Health Ministry said in a statement. The Health Ministry further said India's recovery rate now stands at 75.27 per cent. "India has posted more than 16lakh (16,27,264) recoveries than the active cases (7,10,771 which are under active medical care). The record high recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country viz. the active cases, has reduced and currently comprises only 22.88 per cent of the total positive cases," the ministry said. The ministry added, "Effective clinical management of the patients in the ICUs has been instrumental in keeping the Case Fatality Rate low and on a steady downward trajectory. Gandhi, in a virtual press conference, had said the unorganised sector is responsible for 90 per cent employment in the country and asserted that many of them will go out of business soon after the moratorium period, creating an employment crisis. "The unorganised sector is responsi- ble for 90 per cent employment in the country. Who are these people? These are small and medium businesses, farmers. Narendra Modi has destroyed this system now. Now you will see, as soon as the moratorium period ends, companies will fall one after another," Gandhi had said.
